Chensiping has flown off to Sweden already, one more for the overseas crowd. Back on 29th may, fyi.

Open House was a good nostalgia trip (though jap food store has deproved in standard, must be the effects of inflation on the price/time/quality equation.

Our juniors' structure did a humpty dumpty.

Orientation Hike is on 25-26th of Feb. I can't go. Conflicting commitments ftl. (Incidentally its another camp, for which I am camp commandant. Responsibilities noes)

So this morning three NSFs whose biggest issue was how to clear all their leave (as compared to many peoples' midsems or preoccupations with Wallaby or plain geographical remoteness) went down to hwachong basketball courts to spectate/take part in the latest installment of the 8th major activity of OAC.

Sadly us oldies didn't take part in the familiar ground that was basketball, opportunities lost and all so we had to settle for scorching hot captain's ball (which yours truly didn't take part in either) and captain's frisbee (as epic as it sounds). Unfortunately the last game featured the whole world on the court, and thus deserves the epic tag all to itself.

And despite applying sunblock I am now sunburnt D: luckily only on my arms, so not too bad. Though I felt like a reverse solar cell, energy draining out under direct sunlight x.x regret not playing bball when the sun was still merciful D:

If any juniors are reading this, jiayou for PW OP or A's mugging! Your seniors want a rematch sometime, please oblige (: There is a need for a proper game of Ultimate Frisbee (((:

Hiiii guys! Bike Hike 2011 is now over!! Thanks to all the 34th who showed their support to the juniors and now we continue on with our lives either awaiting the end of NS or dreading the end of holidays. xD

Anyway, here's a joke!

Two doctors of two different specialties decided they would open a practice together - to share office space and personnel.

Dr. Smith was the psychiatrist and Dr. Jones was the proctologist (doctor dealing with Colo-rectal surgery. In common terms, it is a specialization dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon).

They put up a sign reading: "Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones: Hysterias and Posteriors". The town council was livid and insisted they change it.

So, the doctors changed it to read: "Schizoids and Hemorrhoids" - this was also not acceptable, so they again changed the sign.

"Catatonics and High Colonics"......No go.

Next, they tried "Manic Depressives and Anal Retentives"....thumbs down again.

Then came "Minds and Behinds"....still no good.

Another attempt resulted in "Lost Souls and Butt Holes".......unacceptable again!

So they tried "Analysis and Anal Cysts".....not a chance.

"Nuts and Butts".....no way.

"Freaks and Cheeks".....still no good.

"Loons and Moons".....forget it.

Almost at their wit's end, the docs finally came up with:

"Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones -- Odds and Ends"

Everyone liked it.

Archives restored, links restored, activity level still at a low. xD

Anyway, 5 cool seniors went back to ubin on thursday (can minus 1 stone, 1 cow, 1 monkey and 1 yallow) so it's really just 1 cool senior, and we were kind of the oldest batch there. Woot! Can't believe the first time we participated in YL was like in 2008.........

We left when the fun part started, and there was no campfire. No rain, but cause scared it might rain after a tiny downpour earlier so the bunch of kids were zi-highing in the jetty with 1 old man and a bunch of homeless dogs. Yepp.. the 'hitting' only started when it was almost 10pm!!! Grah.. freaking late.

Next time let's try and have moooooore people go back kay! Next year can since all the guys would have ORD-ed by then! xD Right? And we saw a good idea for overseas trip from changi point ferry terminal to some south johor place: $10 for the boat ride only then can go there play one there. ^^

I know not many frequent the blog now but for those who still do.. there's an event going on organised by the 29th OAC.. the "Hwa Chong OAC Big Family CNY gathering (ang pows not required)" event! Details can be found on the facebook event page that everyone from the batch should be invited to already.. apart from Sharlene who does not have fb that is.

Anyway, details is as such:

Time: Sunday, February 13, 5:00pm - 10:00pm [I know this is reallllly bad for NS guys as sunday is also book-in night.. but hope it won't stop the rest from going still?]

2011 here we come!

Hi!!! (:

2nd January 2011 outing brings us to a whole new record with an amazing 21/26 turn out, especially considering that we have all long graduated and are now all old and some about to leave their teenage years behind. xD This outing also marks the first ever time that the girls outnumber the guys, although once it hit evening (or to be exact when we left Huan's house), the guys took back their place in being the majority. (: With two records broken at the start of 2011.. it will be a great year ahead.. right? =P

In 13 days from the outing, we will have 3 officers, one being a sword or merit from logistics - Raphael, one from infantry - Sean, and one from signals - Jia Jun. Everyone go congratulate them for making it this far and for turning into occifers!! Thereafter we will also have three more but there still remains a few months in the way for them. =P Also not forgetting our 3 sergeants who have already long graduated and are now drawing higher pays. xD

Anyway, enough dumb army talk. Let's have an outing some time soooooon! It's really great meeting up with the batch and everyone still seems the same old same old. (: Valerie still consumes, Jia Jun still stones, Steffi still lags... and well, meeting up with the 34th never fails to put me in a good mood. =)

Thank you all for coming down and for those who didn't or couldn't make it.. no worries and just try to come for the next one! (: Even though we had a high attendance, SOME (or actually one) people (person) who appeared for 1hr+ then disappeared was included in the numbers so... hehe. x)

HAPPY NEW YEAR 34th! And wishing all a great year ahead! To the NUS kids, 10th Jan is coming.. to the SMU kid, I have no idea when your school starts so don't care! To the NTU kids, 24th Jan is quite soon, to Linette.. tell us when exactly you are flying off to Aussie, to those who enlisted in Feb 10.. ORD is just round the corner - believe in that! To those who enlisted later.. well.. next year bah. =)

MAF is on the 11th of September, this saturday! Those who can go please please go and take lots of photos of it there and then post it here! =) So that poor deprived army boys who need to go AHM and cannot go MAF, plus poor forced to go overseas me who cannot go even though he has no stupid AHM can at least view them to help ease our sufferings. =)

By the way, anyone who wants to make changes to the blog layout just go ahead and beautify it or make it nicer. =) I'm currently still exploring placing a flash animation as the background.. but for now the photo spam will do. =)

Heeeyyyy guys!

The outing on 9th August went not bad considering we at least hit >50% of the batch in the end. Hahaha.

Thanks to those who could make it and went, and also sorry for those who were busy on that very day but could not make it due to really misfortunate incidents and clashes.

Although we majorly lack in kite flying skills.. at least we all had fun, right? =P Anyhow, the next outing is probably on 11th September, which is MAF in school. Good news is that the 10th of September is Hari Raya Puasa (public holiday!) so most probably all the army guys will be out and free to go for MAF.. But well, I won't be there this year. =X So you guys better have fun for yourself and also me...... and make sure that your enjoy the time while evil is not looming around. (:

Hi guys!!

In order to increase the number of people visiting the blog, I have decided to place the details for the outings here! =) Further updates can also be found here..

Okay.. The main reason is actually because I still don't have unlimited messages so this is one of the easier ways for me to actually pass out information to you guys. =D

Outing on 090810 (National Day):
Meeting time: 9am
Meeting venue: Sengkang MRT
Activity details (as of last planned): Flying kite [Zhen Rui is getting around 3 kites for us to TRY and fly kites!] etc. at sengkang open field, going to marina barrage in the evening (it's a nice place to gather), possibly go someone's house in the afternoon period (steffi's house is available!)

*Apologies to Huan who has duties for NDP parade.

Outing on 110910 (MAF):
Meeting time: unconfirmed
Meeting venue: School (at the moment)
Activity details: Attend MAF. duh~

As stated in the mass sms, please please reply to me your attendance for BOTH outings, whether you are attending or not, or whether you will be late etc. A reply is compulsory. (:

On an additional note, TBYEC is having a food can charity drive that need volunteers so if you are available on the 28th of August and 4th of September, do volunteer to be a group leader by messaging Debbie. If not, the other dates are 11th, 12th and 18th of September for the charity drive.

HELLO!

Just thought that I would update people on stuff happening around! =)

We got 2 NTU kids, 1 SMU kid, 2 overseas kids and 7 NUS kids going to start their school term this year! Haha. I'm not sure about all so this is only what I've managed to gather from my information pool. =P

Apart from that.. POP dates are the 2nd and 3rd of July (friday and saturday) for the school 2 and school 3 people respectively! So we can try and have an outing on the 4th of July... especially so because Karmun is returning to Singapore from the 2nd to the 8th but has a school camp from the 5th to the 8th. =)

And well.. I have gone 'out of course' from OCS! It's sort of a fresh feeling of freedom.. haha. =D The reason.. not so important lah. =)

Here's a useful note for all of you =)

And to add on, DON'T fall in late. Seriously. Even though its confinement week its never too early to nip this bad habit in the bud.
Accounting for strength is very important.. Especially if you're platoon IC, prepare to see alot of the floor if you anyhow anyhow.

For those OCS wannabes, some things you could do:
Volunteer to be platoon I/C, and DO A GOOD JOB.
Befriend your section, they're the ones doing your peer appraisal (Yes I know that's a little mercenary, but well take it from me =\)
Don't sit back during SIT test (abit early, not to mentioned stating the obvious)
Make sure your fitness is there (I'm looking at you yalam =))
Try not to fall out of anything
Try not to fall sick
Avoid getting a chaokeng reputation, it just kills your peer appraisal
Avoid sloppy movement
Motivate your section/platoon to meet timings

Your minimum standard should be your maximum effort.

BTW honestly speaking I think YL had worse tekan, especially during MROC. Then again it depends on your coy.

I decided to attempt to revive the dead blog that probably gets 1 visitor a week. =D

Let's have an outing during the good friday weekend which is the 2-4th April! NS people should be booked out as good friday is a public holiday, plus it will be the last week of BMT for those in side now as we POP on the 8th of April so hopefully most of us can make it. I know either day will crash with the church commitments for some of us but that cannot really be helped... sorry. >_<

On a side note, rain really sucks big time. My sit test was accompanied by pretty pretty rain for all 3 days (same for stone) and it made the floor nice and muddy for leopard crawling and artillery drills. But well.. it's finally OVER!!

For those who don't check your phones but do check here.. Kanzy got injured and is not resting at home and no longer attending BMT. So if you are free just go down to his house to bother, I am visit, him.

So... who's up for the outing??

By the way, Atlantis '10 is on the 17th of April.

YLTC '10 is over so i put the archives back up.

sorry guys couldnt make it cuz i was in the island next door sleeping under basha (in the rain). Was thinking about how much fun you all were having tekaning the juniors and reliving memories while I was lying in my basha trying to sleep.

meanwhile, BLOCK LEAVE IS COMING SOON so guys we should try to organise an outing soon before its too late. Instinct tells me that block leave time gets swallowed up very quickly. Scholarships/Uni interviews, section/platoon outings, family outings, friend outings, etcetcetc, overseas vacations..

I AM OFFICIALLY BORED.. I HATE MUGGING!

I was thinking of posting my print screens of my happy time playing runescape over the past week.. but I guess I will save them for later or just for my own private fond memories. =)

Hi guys,

I'm bored. =)

So anyway I decided to post damn random stuff.. this screenshot below is of my bank on the 28th of October after I finally mined finish coal.. about 3.6k there. (the picture is not clear.. >=/) =] And I'm still combat level 6.. yay!

This one is getting my blurite ore at level 6.. going in and getting hit by the ice warriors was really nasty. =D But I got the ore in the end!

Okay.. it's official that I'm bored. About 12 more days to A-levels.. Jiayou everyone! Everything ends on the 30th of November. =) For physics people. And then 3rd December for bio people. Any dates before 30th November not important. =D

Will tell your my ideas and plans for after A-levels another time.. if anyone reads here that is. Haha.

Yoz yoz, haha just now was MAF! Haha dunno how many of you guys will read this but it was quite fun running around just now watching the juniors run around, they got much nicer balloons than us last year >.<

Meeting seniors went well too, juniors did ~~snake~~ dragon roll call, seniors talk, yep xD took an OAC pic, but it's with some senior i dunno from which batch one, so don't think will see it.

Haha and surprisingly attendance was quite good for MAF. This year you guys got prelims as excuse so next year all of you better show up at MAF :D :D

Ok jiayou people for the rest of prelims :D Work hard but remember to rest well too :)

Hi guys,

I'm bored. =)

MAF is on the 19th of September.. although the real mid-autumn festival is on the 3rd of October. So the moon then will be really pretty! =D Can go look at it till midnight somemore.. haha.

Prelims is screwed up.. they should have everything at a go rather than throw one paper, give a long break and then the rest all start rushing in.. >_< It's destroying what we know as.. 'holidays'. In primary school.. holidays are still holidays.. but as we enter college.. holidays are no longer holidays.. they are days that allow full-day mugging instead.. what's the world coming to? T_T

We should all go on strike and PLAY for the whole one-week break.. who's with me?? =D

Anyways.. for FOS.. the sports are most probably street soccer, frisbee and basketball. High chance confirmed as these three sports.. So since I'm bored and need something to do apart from playing computer, watching TV or perhaps studying.. those who want to choose a sport first can message me or e-mail me so that I can collate preferences for FOS to help aid our dear PTIs. =)

You might not get your choice in the end if a certain sport is too popular.. cause that will mean reshuffling. Yepp.. Minimum should be 4 guys and 4 girls to a sport if possible.. considering we have 13 guys and 13 girls..

Prelims.. are here. Only GP lah.. then we have one more week to 'mug-till-we-drop'! Or 'mug-till-you-all-drop-as-I-laugh-from-the-sidelines'. =)

Today there was quite an interesting talk during CT session right?? The one before the discipline review.. the one before the poor people were sent off to do a totally useless and senseless survey that is really, really extra and cause *someone* or *some people* deem it as important and necessary.

Anyhow.. what the people were trying to say in their talks translated to one simple thing: Come for sports on friday to relax and relieve stress! =)

Dead Blog Alert!!

HI GUYS!!

To all those mugging away for prelims and A-levels as I sit here slacking and typing this blog post.. JIAYOU! Just persevere for 104 more days and you will be done with A-levels (this refers to the bio people.. so it means even less days for the rest of us. =D)

Honestly, I am unable to mug for extreme long hours.. or maybe even days. So for those of your who have been managing to do this.. share your secret.. @_@ See.. this just proves I am not a mugger! =)

Anyway.... FOS is between 12th October to 23rd October.. cannot be on the 21st and 22nd as those are grad days.. and not after 23rd for sure as school had ended by then. Just one day.. ONE day. Not even the whole day.. ONE AFTERNOON + EVENING. ONE HOR. >< Play sports for just that period of time.. and then also possibly and hopefully go out for dinner as a batch after FOS. (to celebrate beating the juniors. xD)

Once more.. 19th September is MAF.. hope to see everyone there. =)

We have passed out!

Hey guys!!

We have passed out officially! (I was not given time to make speech during invest... haha)

After 1 year of hard work, blood, sweat, late nights and falling grades.. we have finally completed our term in OAC (08-09). At first, it seemed like our term would never end.. but all of a sudden, it was over in a breeze. Just like that.

Starting from Investiture 08, to MAF 08, to Open House 08, FOS 08, ITC 08, Open House 09, OH 09, YLTC 09, Atlantis 09, Bike Hike 09.. we have slogged our butts off for OAC. All I can say is.. I am really glad that I went through my term with you guys - all 25 of you.

Have you ever wondered.. why did you join OAC? What do you want to achieve in OAC? Well.. I did think about this this year.. and I realised, that it did not matter what I achieved in OAC.. what I really wanted was to just have fun with the batch, for us to go through events and think 'that was fun and memorable'. And also.. the reason why I was/am willing to work for the batch was simple: I enjoy the company of everyone in the batch. And I want the time that we have together to last forever.

Now, looking forward, there is MAF 09 on the 19th of September. I know it is in the middle of prelims.. but I really hope that if possible.. most of us can go down for this event. =) Then.. we have FOS 09 that will be in between prelims and A-levels.. now this one.. everyone should go for it.. we have to win. xD

With the end of our term.. I will definitely miss all the times we had together.. be it organising events, mugging together, or even just having fun. Well.. we can always do the later 2 anytime together.. but I guess.. we all should focus on number 2 first - MUG.

All the best for prelims and A-levels people..! We can do well de. =D

P.S. For the 20 of us in TBYEC.. let's organise more activities in the future after A-levels! For the other 6.. we will definitely invite you all along for the activities is possible de. =)

Today's probably one of the last times our batch gathers in full strength together.

SO we better make the best out of it! [ok then again i dont think anyone is going to read this before invest anyway]

but even if the next batch is invested, doesnt mean we're passed out yet right?

Set priorities. Top students brook no intrusions on study time. Once the books are open or the computer is booted up, phone calls go unanswered, TV shows unwatched, snacks ignored. Study is business; business comes before recreation.
Study anywhere -- or everywhere. Claude Olney, an Arizona State University business professor assigned to tutor failing college athletes, recalls a cross-country runner who worked out every day. Olney persuaded him to use the time to memorize biology terms. Another student posted a vocabulary list by the medicine cabinet. He learned a new word every day while brushing his teeth.

Among the students we interviewed, study times were strictly a matter of personal preference. Some worked late at night when the house was quiet. Others awoke early. Still others studied as soon as they came home from school when the work was fresh in their minds. All agreed, however, on the need for consistency. "Whatever I was doing, I maintained a slot every day for studying," says Ian McCray, a Middlebury College student from New Jersey.
Get organized. In high school, McCray ran track, played rugby and was in the band and orchestra. "I was so busy, I couldn't waste time looking for a pencil or missing paper. I kept everything right where I could put my hands on it," he says.

Paul Melendres maintains two folders -- one for the day's assignments, another for papers completed and graded. Traci Tsuchiguchi, a top student at Clovis West High School in Fresno, Calif., has another system. She immediately files the day's papers in color-coded folders by subject so they'll be available for review at exam time.

Even students who don't have a private study area remain organized. A backpack or drawer keeps essential supplies together and cuts down on time-wasting searches.
Learn how to read. "The best class I ever took," says Christopher Campbell, who graduated from Moore (Okla.) High School last spring, "was speed-reading. I not only increased my words per minute but also learned to look at a book's table of contents, graphs and pictures first. Then, when I began to read, I had a sense of the material, and I retained a lot more."

In his book Getting Straight A's, Gordon W. Green, Jr., says the secret of good reading is to be "an active reader -- one who continually asks questions that lead to a full understanding of the author's message."
Schedule your time. When a teacher assigns a long paper, Domenica Roman draws up a timetable, dividing the project into small pieces so it isn't so overwhelming.

"It's like eating a steak," she says. "You chew it one bite at a time."

Melendres researches and outlines a report first, then tries to complete the writing in one long push over a weekend. "I like to get it down on paper early, so I have time to polish and review."

Of course, even the best students procrastinate sometimes. But when that happens, they face up to it. "Sometimes it comes down to late nights," admits Christi Anderson, an athlete, student-council member and top student at Lyman High School in Presho, S.D. "Still, if you want A's, you make sure to hit the deadline."
Take good notes -- and use them. "Reading the textbook is important," says Melendres, "but the teacher is going to test you on what he or she emphasized. That's what you find in your notes."

The top students also take notes while reading the text assignment. In fact, David Cieri of Holy Cross High School in Delran, N.J., uses "my homemade" system in which he draws a line down the center of a notebook, writes notes from the text on one side and those from the teacher's lecture on the other. Then he is able to review both aspects of the assignment at once.

Just before the bell rings, most students close their books, put away papers, whisper to friends and get ready to rush out. Anderson uses those few minutes to write a two- or three-sentence summary of the lesson's principal points, which she scans before the next day's class.
Clean up your act. Neat papers are likely to get higher grades than sloppy ones. "The student who turns in a neat paper," says Professor Olney, "is already on the way to an A. It's like being served a cheeseburger. No matter how good it really is, you can't believe it tastes good if it's presented on a messy plate."
Speak up. "If I don't understand the principle my teacher is explaining in economics, I ask him to repeat it," says Christopher Campbell. Class participation goes beyond merely asking questions, though. It's a matter of showing intellectual curiosity.

In a lecture on capitalism and socialism, for example, Melendres asked the teacher how the Chinese economy could be both socialist and market-driven, without incurring some of the problems that befell the former Soviet Union. "I don't want to memorize information for tests only," says Melendres. "Better grades come from better understanding."
Study together. The value of hitting the books together was demonstrated in an experiment at the University of California at Berkeley. While a graduate student there, Uri Treisman observed a freshman calculus class in which Asian-Americans, on average, scored higher than other minority students from similar academic backgrounds. Treisman found that the Asian-Americans discussed homework problems together, tried different approaches and explained their solutions to one another.

The others, by contrast, studied alone, spent most of their time reading and rereading the text, and tried the same approach time after time even if it was unsuccessful. On the basis of his findings, Treisman suggested teaching group-study methods in the course. Once that was done, the groups performed equally well.
Test yourself. As part of her note-taking, Domenica Roman highlights points she thinks may be covered during exams. Later she frames tentative test questions based on those points and gives herself a written examination before test day. "If I can't answer the question satisfactorily, I go back and review," she says.

Experts confirm what Roman has figured out for herself. Students who make up possible test questions often find many of the same questions on the real exam and thus score higher.
Do more than you're asked. If her math teacher assigns five problems, Christi Anderson does ten. If the world-history teacher assigns eight pages of reading, she reads 12. "Part of learning is practicing," says Anderson. "And the more you practice, the more you learn."

The most important "secret" of the super-achievers is not so secret. For almost all straight-A students, the contribution of their parents was crucial. From infancy, the parents imbued them with a love for learning. They set high standards for their kids, and held them to those standards. They encouraged their sons and daughters in their studies but did not do the work for them. In short, the parents impressed the lessons of responsibility on their kids, and the kids delivered.

Accendo '09 (www.accendo09.com)

They are a team of students that formed a team to aid the Student Advisory Centre (SAC) which provides a myriad of services and programmes for underprivileged youth and children.

The Lunch Box Fund is the Centre’s cash gift to primary and secondary school students from poor and needy families, which sponsors the children for an entire academic year. With this, the Centre intends to contribute S$143,000 to the community in year 2009, to approximately 500 deserving students. The Centre hopes to empower youths from disadvantaged family backgrounds such that they may gain self-dependency.

Accendo '09 aims to:

I Raise $50,000 for the SAC

II Promote awareness of the SAC, and in particular, the beneficiaries of the Lunch Box Fund, to at least 200,000 students and members of the public

III Inspire other youths to rise up to the challenge and aid the community

To aid the SAC in its fund raising efforts, Accendo will be conducting 19 streets sales sessions to raise funds and they require volunteers. Details regarding the dates and timings of the sales are as follows:

(yes i know i'm lag) Not going to have a thankyou list since charlton has already done it, but i really wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to each and everyone of you, no matter you took part on the day itself or during the preparation itself, because without you all, bike hike '09 would not be so successful! Special thanks to bike hike comm, you guys tanked so much ever since the day we met up with Alex at KAP, really thank you :D :D

it's really fast eh? Our 8 major events are now officially over, it seems like yesterday when we were preparing for invest :/ But before we all start getting emo and stuff, there are still many activities/minor events that are still on going! Here's some updates for people who are not sure what's happening :D

Kids Camp! 5th June 2009

Yup kids camp will be this coming friday. It's not a camp actually, just a one day event where we bring kids for Fei Yue down to henderson waves/hort park/alexandra arch that area. For more details check the proposal uploaded on yahoo groups.

2. Rockclimbing with 35th, 8th June 2009
Rachel has sent out the email, basically it'll be next monday, at the ulu rockclimbing place that we went for ITC. Check your email to know how to get there and what to bring, and bring along your level one rockclimbing card! In case we need it to loan equipments.

oh anyone interested in batch dinner after the rockclimbing session? if got enough people maybe we can go for some steamboat or other stuffs. Just some suggestion :D

3. Bike Hike Post Mortem, 15th June 2009

Oh and some random suggestions on what we can do since our events are over already.

Cable Ski! (wc's idea) we can do this during this june hols/ dec hols depending on which one you guys prefer, the rates are quite okay i think, $95 per person for a day, inclusive of 2 way ferry trip, one day ski pass, full usage of house skiing equipments, coaching, 1 lunch. And it's just 1 day!
Build structure! this was an idea from some of us after seeing our jnr's (dismal) pioneering skills during YL and we wanted to find a day where we can build a super zai structure for fun :D :D People can touch up on their pioneering skills or learn to tie if you still dunno :D

Hi guys!!

Some of us are still recovering from post bike hike blues, some of us are settling into the idea that the June hols has just arrived, some of us are trying to upload the massive number of photos taken into picassa, some of us are already mugging our butts off.. but let's not forget one important thing.. the HOLIDAYS are here!!

Maybe I'm just a little slow.. but for awhile, it did not exactly feel like the holidays were already here.. and it came pretty shocking.. but half the year has passed already. Our last major event was just over, and we have our CIP left.. and investiture and FOS.

So as we all start preparing for BT2.. don't forget that the HOLIDAYS are already here.. which means that we should be ENJOYING ourselves! I am sure... I hope... I sincerely wish that all of us are not interested in mugging 24-7-25 this holidays.. (5 days removed: 2 for bike hike, 1 for post mortem, 1 for rock climbing, 1 for CIP). So let's have outings!!

The post mortem, rock climbing and CIP do not count as outings.. even though we can convert them into outings.. =) [edit] Okay.. I won't be able to make it for the post mortem. >< [/edit] But apart from these activities.. let's have a batch outing!!! On top of mugging sessions (in school? outside?) if we still want them that is. =D

So someone.... help me plan a BATCH OUTING! We don't have people to join the competitions already.. cause we have a lack of female participation.. haha. I may have to poach a junior now.. =S

Hi guys!!! First to post after bike hike. =D

Great job on bike hike 2009! =)

I would like to thank the following people for all their hard work and dedication..

@Main Comm: Your tanked soooo much for this event and without your planning, this event would not be possible. Thanks for coordinating the batch so well and conducting so many briefings and meetings. Also, good job in searching out for the Singapore Book of Records plus thinking of a solution to handle the sudden leap in number of participants.. =P

@Log Comm: HAH! We are ZAI! Collating particulars was not under our job scope originally but we managed to handle it in the end.. although there were mistakes here and there in the list. (not entirely our fault though) Our presence at Tiong Bahru CC during the packing of stuff was definitely a great help.. especially since our whole comm went down! xD

@Pub Comm: Great job with the event booklet!! Although Steffi 'editted' it but then your sure did put in alot of effort in the contents etc and the designing of the whole thing. =)

@Photography Comm: Err.. Great jobs taking photos. Upload them! Haha.

@FA Comm: The first aid kits were packed.. finally. Haha. But then some groups did not even need to touch thiers in the end, luckily. =)

@Karmun: My one and only zai daughter!! Tanking all the various designs like T-shirt and banner.. without you the whole event would be designless and extremely plain.

@Li Fern: Okay lah.. you handled the certs well. =D B.A.R. (Believe Alex Result)

@Alex: You most probably might not see this.. but thanks for guiding us through the event. =) Your guidance was definitely important and helpful throughout the whole thing and thankful for everything.

@35th instructors: Thanks for coming to help out as assistant instructors! Hope it was a good learning experience for you all.. =P

@Yongkai: Team Charlie would fall apart without you! Great job being pointman for the WHOLE hike even though it should have been me. xD So proud of you for managing to remember the route in just the 2 recces that you came for..

@Team Beta (Bravo lah..): Being the only group without a senior helping out.. I'm sure it was hard on your especially with the J2s in your group. =) Great job handling the group on your own and also managing to lead your group through the whole route successfully despite slips here and there.

Okay lah.. let's just end it here.. the next segment is also very important stuff that I noticed during my trip!!

Anyone noticed this road? =D It is a very important road that you will pass by when heading for Kovan Macs. Even though few groups managed to do so for the main hike.. this road is nonetheless.. IMPORTANT!

See this curb.. it has a caution sign over it.. wonder why? ;)

YES! Because it is the deadly curb that I flew over during the main comm recce! See on the left side of the picture? There is a bit of the NJC gate there.. hahaha. The people finally realised that the curb was dangerous and placed a 'caution' sign where it is. =D

Anyway.. weirdly.. I'm not tired after this bike hike.. haha. Recces were more tiring. =D I guess all those recces really did help!! =) Proud holder of 5 recces + 1 for main event! Tied for top with ZX, Andy, Pei Yit aka bankai sensei. Haha.

Rest well everyone! Great job for bike hike 2009.. and thanks for making our last major event so enjoyable. =) Now we have left kids' camp and FOS (and attending investiture). So let's make the best of the remainder of our term... so who wants to go for NJC or the NUS ODAC competitions?? We need girls to take part!! Haha.

I don't know why I am blogging.. I guess I am just bored and cause I have no where else to blog but here cause I shut down my blog for fun. o.o

H3 MATH SUCKS!

Okay.. got that out.. sigh. BIKE HIKE is coming soon le.. for those who have been going for recces / gone for 1 recce.. it has been quite fun right? =D I find that it is more taxing mentally than physically bah.. haha.. --> keeping awake. ><

But as Alex told me when I had HTHT with him at Bukit Gombak.. o.o "I think you have grown stronger since the 1st recce" [1st recce refers to the bike hike comm recce hor] We will slowly become better with each recces so for those that are having trouble now.. don't worry too much!

I think everyone can go trace the route using your street directories. =) It will help your remember the route better.. and in truth.. some people memorised the route based on looking at the map. Haha.

Sigh.. I'm just ranting away now.. don't feel like studying H3.. don't feel like doing tutorials yet.. @_@ I shall go try and study now.. hahahaha.

Hey guys,
in view of the upcoming recces, as well as for the benefit of any juniors/visitors who happen to stumble/stalk our lively blog, I've decided to share the tips that I just blogged about! With some contributions from Karl Chong =)

Karl's
1.Sleep at least an hour before the recee itself, if not you will really feel like sleeping (hwachong noooo) and risk yourself flying off your bike like what charlton did during comm recee a few weeks ago
2.SALT! I know that sodium isn't good for health, but bring along some isotonic drinks to prevent your legs from cramping up like mine and constantly need to stretch at everything traffic light that you stop at.
3.Out of the point but you need to be constantly high! It helps the whole group, being noisy and high helps to motivate others and keep them from falling asleep! Though don't shout that loud when you are in residential areas xD

And Mine!
-STAND UP when cycling upslopes! For once being more massive has its advantages! Press down with ALL your bodyweight on those pedals! They won't break...For me at least =P And it ain't that tiring~
-STAND UP when you spot bumps or uneven terrain. Doing so helps to alleviate the inevitable pain in the rear end that you'll experience at 8am in ECP as the result of the bike seat spending the greater part of the night bonding with your butt. Your feet are more adept at tanking jolts than your @$$. Well that's my opinion.
-Drink alot of water and isotonic drinks! In a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. Replenishing salts helps to relieve cramps. So does frequent stretching, for that matter.
-Bring deep heat rub/muscle spray/muscle cream. The cooling menthol sensation WILL help to block out the lactate burning characteristic of upslope pushes. Sadly mine ran out somewhere along Stevens Rd.
-Talk cock/sing song, whatever works, just keep group morale high! Not only will it help to keep people awake, but when you're busy laughing/singing/shouting, you have a readymade distraction to take your mind off that sensation in your thighs/butt.

Hi hi people I'm bored from studying for history test, so decided to help revive the blog :D :D Anyway here's some reminders for the coming week:

We'll be giving the juniors the results of peer evaluation tomorrow (7.10am at amphi before flag raising) and elections will most likely be held on this coming Wednesday/Friday (most likely Friday though, Wednesday may have PT for bike hike), so make yourself free on Friday if possible.
Help remind your friends who have declared interest in Bike Hike to submit their forms asap!! Also try to grab more people to join too!
For those who went for bike hike recee on labour day, please send your reflections to Alex asap, latest by this coming monday which is tomorrow.
For those who have yet to pay $35 to Zheng Xian, please also do so by this coming week
PLEASE BRING YOUR THERMOMETER EVERYDAY FROM TOMORROW ONWARDS! Yeah due to the Mexican flu, all schools are required to conduct temperature taking tests everyday and when you enter school you need to go through this check in the canteen i think. Check EMB for more details. There will be no combined assembly tml, it'll be separate assembly.

Hey are all of you damn sian of ubin already? Cos seeing as how comanches '09 managed to find all of 1 checkpoint during the entire landex, comanches'08 has decided to bring them back to ubin one day and I was wondering if land chiefs should organise one for the batch as well. If not for 34th than at least for 35th then you guys can tag along or something cos I think some ppl are stil not too sure of how to get around then just smoke through landex... :P

Or we can have a hiong-like-siao land-sea-air collaboration. Go rock climbing than trek to kallang and kayak to ubin for landex XD

Ok lah that last part was joking. But I think the ubin thing will be quite fun leh. We'll all be on bikes for one. So it'll be much faster getting around and it's not a stay over thing so we can eat REAL food for once like seafood hor fun instead of 3-pieces-of-bread-smashed-into-1 with tuna. And it's also practice for BIKE HIKE.

Or if you still find it boring than we don't have to go around ubin. We can check out the new mountain bike trails. They look pretty cool. And that's also practice for BIKE HIKE.

Hello 34th,

YLTC 09 is finally over and we only have 2 major events left. Though the time we spent together is short (like barely a year), I know that the batch is very precious to me. I don’t know whether it is true for everyone, but OAC has kind of been my pillar of support during the bad times and my source of joy during the good times.

YL 09 reminded me of the times we spent together s a batch in YL 08, allowing me to reminisce.
I found myself desperately trying to find my old self in the juniors, and also to find memories of YL08 at places where we did pt, rollcalls and so on. All the happiness, regrets, excitement, they kind of came back to me.

I am not a easy person to work with (I know how I am like) and I really would like to thank everyone for tolerating me and accepting me for who I am, as well as say sorry to those people that I have cause misery to (probably many of you guys). =]

To the CI, Zhen Rui: Thanks for being so easy-going and being a responsible CI when it comes to work and a wonderful friend when it comes to play. Thanks for all the hard work you have put in to make YL 09 a great camp.

To our ACI, Charlton: Like Zhen Rui, thanks for putting in loads of time and effort in making the camp a successful one, and thanks for always putting OAC as the top priority in your life. Thanks for putting up with my constant absence (due to harmoc practices) and my weird mood swings.

To our secretary, Steffi: Thanks for sacrificing your mugging time to work on the YL booklet and also dedicating lots of the time to OAC. Thanks for being a wonderful friend who always accompanies me to the toilet and does random stuffs with me when you are so busy with OAC stuffs.

To our treasurer, Weichang: Thanks for putting so much effort in dealing with all the accounts and also being such a wonderful friend. Shawnees sentry had been spastic with you around. Thanks for putting up with my mood swings too.

To our CQM, Lifern: As the leader of the Saikang Warriors, thanks for working so hard for logistics and stuff until you give up on studying for blocks all together. Thanks for all your efforts and also thanks for bringing much joy and laughter when you start niao-ing Renice Loh about random stuffs.

To our guy QM, Jiajun: Thanks for doing so much saikang (especially all those that involves carrying heavy stuffs) cause you are the only guy QM. Thanks for being so spastic and bringing us joy when you kena niao-ing. Sorry for being such an inefficient fellow QM.

To our cute QM, Sharlene: Thanks for being there with me when Lifern and Jiajia weren’t around. Thanks for all the efforts you put in for YL 09 and for being such a wonderful chatting buddy when we were all =/ after packing all the land ex stuff. =]

To Kanzy: Thanks for being a zi-high rover with me and I think sentry wouldn’t be as fun without you. Thanks for being one of the members of advanced party (poor shoes though). Thanks for all the efforts put in to zi-high with Nava and for being retarded with all the time. =]

To Peiyit: Thanks for being such an inspiring character at YL and thanks for putting in so much effort in YL despite your busy schedule. Thanks for staying with Shawnees for land ex despite having H3 lessons and also being such a nice GI to them. Thanks for putting up with all the retarded things I do. =]

To Valerie: Thanks for being such an important friend to me all the time and thanks to accompanying me everywhere. Thanks for putting up with all my mood swings and also zi-highing with me when we were bored. Thanks for constantly spaming pictures (making me seem less odd taking pictures all the time. Thanks for the wonderful performance during campfire and we wouldn’t have done it without the hardwork of the batch and I hope that we can continue working hard as a batch for the rest of the activities that has yet to come and I promise that I will put in more effort in OAC.

Great job through the whole of YLTC'09! Having to keep up with my evilness and all everyone has really done a great job and pulled through to make YLTC'09 a memorable experience for the juniors and also for us seniors. =)

CI Zhen Rui (blue ink!), thanks sooooo much for lasting the whole YL with me. =D As a fellow SKB.. it's time for us to up to SKII soon and leave any potential SKers behind! =) Also thanks for working so hard on our pretty pretty action plan and proposal that constantly went through major revisions and doing up the whole v1 for action plan. Alot of stress.. =P But we somehow managed to pull through..

Calean!!! (red ink) Doing up the proposal for YLTC definitely isn't easy.. and chasing the chiefs for their proposals must have been really hard. =P Thanks for always being there to help out and staying back after pre-camps so that I have someone to talk to on the bus trip home. =)

Stuffy Steffi! The booklet was very well done.. =) It is one of the physical takeaways for the juniors and I am sure they will treasure it very much just as I treasure my booklet from YLTC'08.

Wei Chang!! Thanks for taking care of all that money during YL.. and you must feel significantly poorer now that most of it have been spent off. =D Also thanks for always rising up to the occasion to help take the lead whenever needed. =)

Fern, Jia Jun, Shar, Jas, tanking all the logistics, the packing etc. have been really hard work on your. But your pulled through well and deserve lots of rest after YLTC! =)

Recre comm Pei Yit, Linette, Calean, Fern & Mav.. standing tall.. er.. with the help of stairs, thanks for always being up there talking to the juniors and reminding them on their mistakes etc. Though I think we could have been fiercer.. >< But I am sure that we all tried our best to try and instill discipline into the juniors!

Advanced party kanzy and jia jun.. well.. your have done NP people proud. =D Being the only batch from the 32nd to 35th with NP people inside I must say that we NP people really are imba! Next time take better care of your shoes.. and as promised I will join your the next time we need an advanced party! =)

Shawnees GIs & Rovers.. BEST GROUP! =D I had lots of fun working with your.. going through debrief after debrief with them.. staying back after pre-camps to get shawnees more motivated and to work on their roll call.. singing the dedication tune to them after YL'09.. Your have really put in alot of effort into making shawnees what they are today! Next time (if they remember to invite us).. let's go out and play with them!!

Nava GIs & Rovers.. STONE GROUP! Haha.. it's not completely bad to be stone I guess.. but your have really put in alot of effort to get Nava more high and active. =) Thanks for taking care of the Nava juniors.. hopefully the tradition of being quiet stops in 2009. =D

Bio H3 people Linette, Pei Yit, Zijia, Huan.. Thanks for coming back for YL despite your busy March holiday schedule due to Bio H3. =) Your returns to YL have really helped us alot in the running of our camp! =D

Lastly.. who wants to go down on the 28th of March to go kayaking when the juniors have their second day of 1-star kayaking? =D

Hey guys. I'm really glad to have gone through yltc'09 with all of you. The experience was really different as an instructor :) With every activity, every event, I never fail to take away life lessons from working with my batchmates and I'm glad this time around, it was no different.

I think other than the physical trainings and activities in OAC, everything else you learn can be summed up in cheesy, over used little one-liners. One for all and all for one. It's the journey not the outcome. Sacrifice for the group etc. etc. and sometimes it gets lame but...gosh I don't know how to put it without sounding even cheesier. If you don't experience it for yourself, you will never know the true meaning of these phrases no matter how often you use them.

Mmm...I remember I was extremely frazzled during nighthike because we didn't have much time to prepare or do a proper briefing for both seniors and juniors and when we went to put the lightsticks and clues shihuan zx and sean couldn't stop playing and wasting lightsticks -____-||| But later as I watched the juniors having fun in their own carefree manner, oblivious to the trials and tribulations behind the preparation of the activity (which included a theiving little boy and his mother :@), and the seniors playing around in their own retarded way, I realised that that's what it was supposed to be. It wasn't planned and executed to perfection but everyone was happy and having fun together and that was what it was supposed to be. Yup. That was my revelation. You can plan and plan and try your best and still not achieve what you set out to complete. But if you stop to smell the flowers, you might just discover something better. See, cheesy again. But that's what it meant to me and thank you WHOA and juniors for teaching me that :)

I can't speak for everyone, but from the few senior's (as in 33rd) blogs I've read and from my own experience, I guess some of us were trying to relive our own YL experience through the juniors. For me, every precamp, MROC, rollcall and dorm check was a desperate link back to YLTC'08 which was the single event that has made the biggest impact on my life so far. So I was horribly, horribly disappointed with the junior's performance yesterday and with the general atmosphere among the juniors at the end og YLTC yesterday. I'm sorry if I'm bringing the mood down and I really think we tried and did our best but I can't help but wonder if their lack of batch spirit has anything to do with us :(

I mean up till the end the batch would still have frontmen struggling with flags while trying to get tasks done while the rest of the batch continued on oblivious to their batchmates. And after talking to cherokees and a few apaches, the general consensus from them was that the final MROC was just another tekan session that was a little bit more hiong. I dunno. To me, MROC was THE turning point, the moment of complete and utter clarity that I need my batchmates. That I am nothing if not for them. I was crying and shaking so badly not so much from the pain but from the awareness of the extent of my own folly and selfishness. Maybe I was being too emotional. But I was hoping that the juniors would feel just a smidgen of that emotion and I'm not sure they did. And their cheering and singing was just passive, repetitive and forced.

Gah. I'm sorry I'm being so negative. Mood swing. I'm happy now :D

34th, I think we did so, so well for this event. This is where we started out as trainees and now, again, this is where we are today. We really are standing at the beginning with one another and there aren't many oportunities in life where you can say that. Thank you for you. You've made me a better person and even when I get back my Us for math and history blocks, I can say that you have taught me more than any book, any teacher, any formula can.

HEY 34TH!!!

YLTC'09 is finally over!!! Really glad that everyone put in their best through these 5 pre-camps and 5 days of YLTC, without all of you guys, YLTC'09 would not have been possible! There's a lot of people who I want to thank, so let's start now (:

ACI CHARLTON, my favourite SKB who has been with me through thick and thin throughout the whole of my term, especially during YL this year. Your tireless effort of editing my error filled proposals and making sure the forever blur me do not forget impt reminders and deadlines definitely has helped me out lots! Though we faced lots of stress from the changes of events, problem of classroom, seniors etc, but we have pulled through!!

CALEAN, the programme comm i/c who has pretty much tanked the whole programme yourself with charlton and i, and we are pretty sure we didn't choose the wrong person to do the job! Lol to our imba proposals that goes up the 8 versions, 35 pages, plus all those random changes to the events, late nights rushing and editing the proposals, YLTC without you would not have ran so smoothly i'm sure!!

SECRETARY STEFFI, your booklet never fails to amaze me, every single page of it comes from your hardwork (in between your mugging time xD). Not forgetting the imba minutes during the meetings or facing random changes to the booklet, you handled them well!

CQM LI FERN & QMS JIAJUN, SHARLENE, JASMINE, you 4 are definitely one of the most impt people in yl, all the logistics planning, the food collection, packing of logistics in the middle of the night, rushing for kitchen duties, all the hardwork that not many saw during the whole camp, thanks a lot!!

RECRE COMM, LINETTE PEIYIT CHARLTON CALEAN MAVERICK LI FERN, you guys are probably the heart of the camp, you guys conducted those recre sessions really well, yltc wouldn't have been possible without your scoldings and reminders to the juniors, though you guys were fierce throughout the camp, I'm still pretty convinced that you guys are my sweet and friendly batchmates xD

TREASURER WEI CHANG, lol no one else will want his job actually, holding on to that huge amount of money/ lack of money, chasing ling/getting chased by ling for all the money needed for the camp! Imao who can forget your rise to become the imba scolding machine, i bet no one from YLTC'09 will forget your "see that tree over there? go touch and come back" xD

PAWNEES GIs & ROVERS, SEAN STEFFI LINETTE, pawnees might not have emerged as the best group, but they are an imba and sweet gang! Especially sean and steffi who has put in so much effort despite the dismal attendance during pre-camps, pawnees definitely has done you proud!

APACHES GIs & ROVERS, RAPHAEL CALEAN JIAJUN EILEEN, you 4 definitely have been through the most throughout the camp, apaches has grown a lot under your guidance, esp derek!

GIs of all groups, you guys spent the most time with the juniors, though they might not have turned out as we wanted them to be, your guidance have made most of them learnt something from yl and grew to become a better person! Thanks!

ROVERS, ohmygawd we pwn! Haha, actually we pretty much did nothing until Ubin, but we were imba in sending logs here and there! xD

From the start of YL to the end of it, we pulled through every obstacle we have together, especially during that faithful campfire night. I'm very thankful of the support that everyone of you has given to me, i could not have done anything without you guys (: Though yl is now over, i'm sure we'll still have a bright future as a batch together.

YLTC 2009 was a gigantic success. and gotta thank lots and lots of people.

CQM ANGLIFERN, plus fellow qm SHARLENE and JASMINE. qms are the most imba saigang warriors on the planet. and after successfully tiring and surviving through this YL, im proud to say that we've finally transcended into the realm of saigang gods. Our breaks never last more than 1, 2 hrs, and we work nearly the whole day, the whole 5 days. doing all the stupid saigang logistics. having to always walk to poolside to collect lunch. MISS most of the mroc and other activities. last minute go out to buy food for SUPPER and LAND EX and etc. kitchen duty everyday. At least you can be quite sure that juniors know who we are. qms rock.

KANZY fellow advanced party who got his shoes gnawed and mawed even worse than mine. we got to see imba clear skies and sleep in the bball court, plus experience imba saigang god experiences. PLUS thanks for tanking impromptu junior sabo campfire item together. knew i could count on you :P.

CALEAN RAPHAEL EILEEN for making apa rock so much. They really grew alot, esp derek imo. though they were small they really did give their all. like energizer batteries like that. even though raphael wasnt here much, but they all remember you and the laughter you bring LOL. and calean who had to tank everything, and not get demoralised by group strength.

VAL and MAV. comanches 09 gis. guides to the best spirited group! (and imo still best group though). thanks to you all and your zihighing and leadership styles, comanches could be bonded so closely to each other. (then again as best group they would prob have done it with other gis anyway HAHA)

COMANCHES '08! WE ROCK AND WE PWN AND WE OWN. we have successfully passed down the imba qiang-ness of the comanches spirit. with such imba and enthu ex-es, comanches 09 no doubt has to become imba also. cant wait for the meet ex!

ZHENGXIAN! and ANDY! and the rest of WHOA!. campfire item is over! and zhengxian is zai, very loud during dragon rollcall. and normal rollcall was good also. and andy was the lucky guy who seniors random called out to replace steffi for dragon rollcall. then i realised i dint really need to prac the absentees so much, cuz i holding flag LOL. but zhengxian and andy were imba.

THIRTY FOURTH BATCH. WHOA. for organising YL so well. esp the EXCO who tanked so much in the bkgd, for all the late nights that ppl dont really know about. so many memories of 2008. YLTC this year is finally over and successful. lets look forward to a great term, and whatever comes beyond that, together.

I know that this comes a little late.. but OH is now over.. and it is time for YL! =)

Firstly, I would like to thank the OH comm for organising the whole event: Debbie, Sharlene, Valerie & Maverick.

Games comm for planning out all the games.

Logs comm for working with me to ensure that we had the needed logistics.. (although some person's bag was happily left at Changi Jetty. :P Let's not mention names.. haha)

Programmes comm for doing up the camp booklet.. even though we did not give it out in the end.

Campfire comm for trying to get the juniors (and maybe seniors) high during campfire.. and those who went to soak firewood. The campfire would not have been successful without the fire. =D

GIs for taking care of the groups especially during the camp itself.

Rovers - game ICs for helping to host the games for the groups to play. Those at the campsite who helped out with setting up of tents etc. and just stoning and looking after stuff. (sadly only I got to see the FLYING tent.. haha)

Bah.. just thanks to the whole batch lahhh! =D The attendance of J1s did not matter.. the point was that we made it fun for those that came, fun for us and most importantly we enjoyed ourselves in the course of organising this event. =)

As most of you should know (if you spend any of your time at OAC bench), we have recently received notes from a shadow entity imploring us to sacrifice our bench for the greater good of the increased number of classes/juniors.
The basis of the arguments presented are outlined below.

Premise 1: We are the only CCA with a bench, anomalies should be corrected.
Premise 2: Despite us having the privilege of our own CCA bench, we are not making use of it, and hence ostentiably do not deserve it.
Premise 3: Bearing the above rationale in mind, along with the fact that our junior batch is the supposeded largest in Hwachong history (hooray for IP.), we should therefore relinquish ownership of our bench to a random junior class(es).

Instead of wasting mental energies picking out logical leaps and crafting incisive counterarguments, I implore all of you to:

SPEND MORE TIME AT OAC BENCH.

We should take better care of what IS rightly ours, and not allow the detractors and deplorable dolts to defy our solid sovereign settlement!

CCA ORIENTATION IS OVER!

everything somehow worked together really well.

The balloons attracted attention. [the people folding balloons also, plus it gave the impression that oac doesnt just do outdoor activities, we're also fun]
The banner identified us. super impt. Big "OAC" word there.
The forms and boards and brochures were super useful. everything was really good. lol. just kept giving them away, and referring to them.
The people were hardworking! lots of people were talking. even william was pulling his scouts juniors. (lets not say what happened to kenny). And the ppl who walked around also! I think we've got quite a huge attendance for oh.

Hey ppl, as you all see from the previous post, teh cow went to republic plaza today to recee the NVM place with a retard, a kid and a stick. Stairs there aren't very conducive for climbing, lack of ventilation and narrow stairs make farrer road stairs seem much more attractive. Ok here's the 2 pics i took there.

Hihi people!!

3 humans and 1 animal (teh cow) made their way down to Republic Plaza today to go look at the stairs. And guess what? The stairs are out of bounds unless you have a permit to go look at them! Amazing right? But we managed to find a stairway in the building and got a shot of the stairs.

It is roughly 20 steps per storey.. even the next 2 flight of stairs were actually 9 steps.. weirdly. But we can just assume that it would be around 20 steps per storey. The one that we trained at on friday (farrer one) is 16 steps per storey.

our interesting outing at ecp was supposed to start at 10.

but thanks to afew decks of cards, it turned into another 8-man asshole taidi session. all the way until 12.

in the end we dint even cycle.

went to the arcade while waiting for bowling lanes, then bowled 2 games each. with ppl even competing to see who can make the bowling ball bounce higher. [winner was sean anyway].
then was lunch at subway. where (nearly) all of us took advantage of the students set available at the ecp outlet, with andy very intelligently getting a one-foot long sandwich. and valerie and zx mixing their subs up.

then was just meng wii at charlton's house.

Ooh! Can't believe I'm actually the first person posting on ITC! I don't like slack camps :( Lol, I don't like buffer times either, coz we'll mostly end up playing cards. Thought we could have done more fruitful things. I like tekan camps :) Not that I'm sadistic, but I only get self-gratification in tekan camps :) First time in my life when I actually overslept by 1h in a camp, wow~ Haha :D Sad that we couldn't kayak :( & I didn't manage to climb much either during rockclimbing, bah. Ha, but the most fun thing was cycling in Ubin :) eventhough the mozzies weren't quite fun. The mozzies don't seem to have let me off even after I came home, I still feel them buzzing around me x.x Ha, but at least there're less of them now :)

On another occasion, a man making heavy breathing sounds from a phone box told a worried operator:
"I haven't got a pen, so I'm steaming up the window to write the number on".

Tech Support: "I need you to right-click on the Open Desktop".
Customer: "OK".
Tech Support: "Did you get a pop-up menu?".
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK. Right-Click again. Do you see a pop-up menu?"
Customer: "No".
Tech Support: "OK, sir. Can you tell me what you have done up until this point?".
Customer: "Sure. You told me to write 'click' and I wrote 'click'".

Tech Support: "OK. In the bottom left hand side of the screen, can you see the 'OK' button displayed?"
Customer: "Wow. How can you see my screen from there?"

Caller: "I deleted a file from my PC last week and I have just realised that I need it. If I turn my system clock back two weeks will I have my file back again?".

There's always one. This has got to be one of the funniest things in a long time. I think this guy should have been promoted, not fired. This is a true story from the Word Perfect Helpline, which was transcribed from a recording monitoring the customer care department. Needless to say the Help Desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause".
Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee. (Now I know why they record these conversations!):

Operator: "Ridge Hall, computer assistance; may I help you?"
Caller: "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."
Operator: "What sort of trouble??"
Caller: "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."
Operator: "Went away?"
Caller: "They disappeared."
Operator: "Hmm So what does your screen look like now?"
Caller: "Nothing."
Operator: "Nothing??"
Caller: "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."
Operator: "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out??"
Caller: "How do I tell?"
Operator: "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen??"
Caller: "What's a sea-prompt?"
Operator: "Never mind, can you move your cursor around the screen?"
Caller: "There isn't any cursor: I told you, it won't accept anything I type."
Operator: "Does your monitor have a power indicator??"
Caller: "What's a monitor?"
Operator: "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on??"
Caller: "I don't know."
Operator: "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that??"
Caller: "Yes, I think so."
Operator: "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall.
Caller: "Yes, it is."
Operator: "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one??"
Caller: "No."
Operator: "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."
Caller: "Okay, here it is."
Operator: "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."
Caller: "I can't reach."
Operator: "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is??"
Caller: "No."
Operator: "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over??"
Caller: "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark."
Operator: "Dark??"
Caller: "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window.
Operator: "Well, turn on the office light then."
Caller: "I can't."
Operator: "No? Why not??"
Caller: "Because there's a power failure."
Operator: "A power......... A power failure? Aha, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in??"
Caller: "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."
Operator: "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."
Caller: "Really? Is it that bad?"
Operator: "Yes, I'm afraid it is."
Caller: "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them??"
Operator: "Tell them you're too f%*%*%g stupid to own a computer!!!!!"

Hope the jokes were funny.. =) Got them from my mum. Haha.

Hey 34th, OAC FOS is over!

Here's a quick recap of the scores
Soccer 3-1
Captain's Ball 8-12
Ultimate Frisbee 7-8

Even though we lost overall 1-2, I can safely say that we played and cheered our hearts out, and we all enjoyed ourselves!

Thanks to the entire batch for putting up with the constant venue changes, the captain's ball players and supporters for tanking the rain, and the rest of the frisbee team for playing so enthusiastically!

And the biggest thanks to Eileen for helping to co-organise and coordinate the whole event, even risking your ezlink card to borrow the ball =\ All that stressing out was unfounded after all =D

Three cheers for 34th!
Not forgetting 33rd =p

Open House is finally over.

and the busiest week ever is gone. whoever did plan FOS, Sabbats AND Openhouse in the same week. Plus for faccomm theres still gradnights.

Anyway
Thanks Everyone for putting in lots of effort for openhouse. Esp pubcomm for painting a new banner and designing the flyers and posters. And Booth comm for the souvenirs. And structure comm for the structure.

Overall it went really well. And Really like to thank the few ppl who were so ZHAI in talking to the juniors. You may think we don't notice but im really glad we chose certain ppl to be in flyers and booth. Yep. Thanks!

And of course thanks for those ppl who just came and help even though they werent assigned to work then. yep. which probably refers to everyone.

Next OpenHouse is going to be like 10 times more hiong and meng. and we really gotta plan things on a larger scale. Like think of ways to stop the wind from blowing our booth stuff off. and maybe upsize our banner so that it does appear significant amongst the tons of giants banners out there. etc.

Hey guys! For those of you who still do not know, OAC's very own Festival of Sports is this coming Thursday! (16 Oct)

The three sports are:

Frisbee 6v6 20mins/ break/ 20 mins [High school side field] (Frisbee CCA will likely have training on that day)

Captain's Ball 6v6 20 mins/ break/ 20 mins [Basketball court]

Street Soccer 5v5 15mins/ break/ 15 mins [Street Soccer Court]

The three sports will be held concurrently, starting from 4pm and hopefully ending by around 6? The teams must be mixed, and everyone MUST play, no slacking! =D And bounce passes are allowed in captain's ball =)

And as you all should know by now, there will be two more training sessions, on monday and wednesday after school. So be there!
